Onsen

Onsen Hot Spring etiquette in Japan.
The hot spring water is usually at a temperature of 42/43 degrees.  Therefore, caution should be taken before entering the hot spring.  Purity of the body is a premium before entering the hot spring.  Please wash yourself thoroughly with soap and rinse well.   This pre-washing will also acclimatise the body to the hot temperature gradually.
Please try to cover yourself with a little towel when walking around in the hot spring area.  Be as discreet as you can whilst out of the bath. We hope that the diagram below will be of some help.
In most hot spring baths there are lockers for personal effects.  You may need a 100yen coin which will be returned as you vacate the locker.
